This website was built by 'Friends of Bwindi' (previously 'Friends of Bwindi Orphanage'), a UK-based charitable organisation, to support the work of 'Bwindi Orphans Development Center' (BODEC). Unfortunately our organisation is no longer able to support BODEC and therefore the website has been removed.

We will continue to support local groups and individuals.

Support and ideas are very welcome.

  • We are looking for a patron for Bwindi Orphanage Development Centre.
  • Marketing ideas and suggestions for items that the children could make and sell that would generate income.

Practical support such as

  • Posting items to the orphanage.
  • Tourists planning to visit Bwindi if you would be prepared to take items over, please contact us. Items are often very hard to source and extremely expensive in Uganda. We are hoping to purchase a digital camera, keyboard and other items. Bringing them over from the UK would be far more cost effective.
  • If tourists are going gorilla treking and would like to take a gift for the orphanage, clothes, shoes, soap and education supplies would be very welcome. ( a box of 100 bars of soap can be bought for less than £20 on the drive from Kampala.
  • Finding sources of finance, trust funds or busineses that may like to become involved and support the project.
  • Volunteers willing to help with construction or teaching.

Financial support such as

  • Sponsoring an Orphan
  • Sponsoring a staff salary
  • A one off donation. for any of our projects.

Funds are currently raised through

  • Donations made by visitors to the orphanage.
  • Proposals written by orphanage staff.

Any other ideas for support and assistance are always greatfully received.
